About the Role
The Shipper/Receiver/Forklift Operator will work in our Warehouse and Shipping Department reporting to the Warehouse and Shipping Team Leader. The role is a key position in receiving and processing of incoming stock and materials. Picking and filling orders as well as packing and shipping finished goods.
The Shipper/Receiver/Forklift Operator’s duties are as follows:
Safety
- Learning, following, and complying with all company safe work procedures, safe operating procedures and health & safety policies, and all food safety policies and procedures
- Complying with Occupational Health and Safety Regulation, Workers Compensation Act and Environment Canada; CFIA and FDA food safety regulations, SQF and other certification specific requirements
- Reporting any unsafe conditions to supervisor immediately
- Participating and making recommendations in correcting unsafe conditions and the overall health and safety program
- Ensuring personal protective equipment is properly used where required
- Reporting any injuries to the First Aid attendant immediately
Primary Duties
- Shipping and receiving trucks using a forklift,
- Maintaining an organized, clean, and safe warehouse area, picking and filling material requisitions to the mixing and packaging departments, pulling samples of incoming packaging items for QA approval, operating forklift to transport, and properly store ingredients and packaging components
- Performing all tasks required for the warehouse, shipping, and storage and handling teams
- Completing daily inspection logs for forklifts and reporting changes or concerns to the Warehouse and Shipping Team Leader
- Responsible for accuracy and completeness of all receiving documents, shipping documents, pallet tags, allergen/organic labels, quality control documents, and sanitation records in that department
- Reporting to Warehouse Team Leader all storage and shipping related activities
- Monitoring quality of stored goods, for appearance, damage, and pest activity
- Using good communication to gather and distribute ingredients, packaging, and finished goods; this includes proper use of radio and voice commands
- Assisting with physical inventory and cycle counts as needed
- Performing all work to organizational standards to ensure final product meets quality standards
- Performing quality inspections as necessary
- Determining and reporting product and equipment malfunctions to the appropriate authority
- Always maintaining cleanliness of equipment in assigned work area
- Working effectively as part of a team to ensure productivity and efficiency
- Assuring the daily and weekly production schedule is adhered to
- Must ensure that all practices are conducted in a food safe manner and any food safety issues must be brought to Quality Assurance or Senior Management
- Following all standard operating procedures and designated organizational guidelines as well as provincial and federal safety guidelines
- Ensuring all equipment is operated according to equipment manufacturer’s instructions and safety guidelines are followed
- Participating in educational and training opportunities applicable to the position
- Attending to other related duties as assigned by management
About You
- Secondary School diploma or GED
- 3 – 5 years of proven work experience in a warehouse setting (in a food manufacturing facility, a definite asset)
- Eligible to work in Canada
- A valid Class 5 driver’s license REQUIRED
- Physically able to lift up to 25 kg and carry heavy materials
- Knowledge of methods and procedures for food and manufacturing, quality, production, sanitation, and principles of safe food handling required
- Stand-up, Lift Reach Forklift Experience REQUIRED
- Has taken training and possesses a forklift license an asset
- Familiar with stand-up high reach forklifts and dock loaders
- Ability to use basic power tools required
- Strong work ethic and positive team attitude
- Committed to accuracy and detail oriented
- Ability to perform under pressure and work in a fast-paced environment
- Good English communication skills; both verbal and written
- Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills that allows one to work effectively in a diverse working environment
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks, possess superior time management skills, and the ability to multitask, and the ability to prioritize tasks with minimal supervision
- Strong problem identification and resolution skills
The hours are full-time from 8am – 4:30pm or 2:00pm to 10:30pm, 40 hours worked per week. This role is located in Port Coquitlam, BC.
